Do hair catcher strainers actually prevent clogs?
Yes — for hair specifically, they are the most effective first line of defence. Most bathroom clogs are hair mats that snag on pipe joints and trap soap scum; a strainer removes the hair before it ever enters the pipe, so the clog never forms. They do not stop grease or mineral blockages (that is a kitchen and water-chemistry problem), but in basins, showers and bathrooms a correctly sized stainless basket typically eliminates the need for drain-cleaning chemicals entirely.
Punched, etched or mesh — which strainer should I import?
Match the surface to the market position and outlet. Punched (hexagonal holes, 201 steel) is the durable low-cost volume seller for hardware retail. Etched (thousands of fine holes, 304 steel) catches short hair and glitter and suits quality-led showrooms and hotel supply. Mesh (wire weave) has the highest capture rate and fits basin outlets where debris is mostly hair. A balanced importer assortment is roughly 50% punched, 30% etched, 20% mesh across the size matrix.
Will it fit my basin or shower drain?
Fit is defined by three measurements: the outlet hole diameter, its depth, and the flange size that sits on the surface. Our reference cone strainer (50mm flange, 25mm top bore tapering to 15mm, 40mm deep) covers the common 28-32mm basin and shower outlets; short 17mm bodies suit shallow pop-up holes. The XS-to-L size matrix covers floor drain bores as well. Send us your outlet dimensions and we will confirm the exact SKU or quote custom tooling (from 2,000 pcs).
Does the strainer slow down drainage?
A correctly chosen strainer barely affects flow: perforated bodies keep roughly 40-60% open area, so water passes almost as freely as through an open hole. If ponding appears, two causes are typical — the holes are too fine for the debris load (move from mesh to etched or punched), or the basket needs cleaning (soap film gradually closes the holes; a monthly warm-detergent soak restores full flow). For high-flow shower applications, the long-body large sizes give the most open area.
Can I get them with my brand and finish?
Yes. These are stamping-and-drawing parts with low tooling cost, so custom hole patterns, flange diameters and body depths are all adjustable. Standard finish is bright annealed stainless; brushed, PVD gold and gunmetal grey are available (gunmetal from 1,000 pcs). Retail packing options include OPP bag, branded blister card with your barcode, and mixed-size display cartons for hardware distributors.
