Product Details

The deodorizer core — also called an odor trap insert or anti-odor valve — is the small internal part that decides whether a floor drain keeps sewer gas out of the room. Most installed drains either have no trap at all or a water seal that has dried out or filled with hair. A drop-in self-sealing core fixes both cases in under a minute, which is why this is one of the highest-repeat drainage SKUs in hardware channels worldwide: it is a spare part, and spare parts sell forever.
Sizing Rule: Bore Diameter Only. Unlike drain bodies, cores are selected by one measurement: the inner diameter of the drain bore the core sits in. Our range covers the four bores that account for the overwhelming majority of installed drains — 40mm, 50mm, 60mm and 100mm. Whether the drain has a tailpiece (the pipe stub below the body that pushes into the waste pipe) does not change core selection: the core seats in the drain body above the tailpiece, and the same 40mm core fits a 40mm-bore drain with or without one. The two fitment paths in the reference drawing — tailpiece-type drains and non-tailpiece (direct-discharge) drains — accept the identical core matrix. Measure the bore, match the number, done.
Three Sealing Mechanisms: (1) Stainless gravity flap — a polished 304 cup with a hinged bottom flap: water weight pushes the flap open downward; when flow stops the flap swings shut under gravity and a silicone seat seals the gas path. The workhorse design: no magnets, no complex parts, tolerant of dirty water, and the lowest cost per piece. (2) ABS self-sealing valve — a black engineering-plastic body with a side-hinged silicone flap and a stepped rubber sealing collar that grips the bore wall. The collar flexes to seal small size variations, which makes this style the most forgiving retrofit in uneven old drains. (3) Magnetic-float core — a top-guided float cone held closed by magnets at the stem; water pressure lifts the float off its seat, and it re-seals the instant flow stops. Highest closing force and best odor tightness at low water volume; the preferred premium retail spec.

What It Blocks: An open drain bore is a direct chimney to the sewer: methane-sulphur odours, drain flies and — the real sales driver in apartment towers — cockroaches travelling the waste stack. The closed core removes all three paths while water still drains freely.
Sealed core blocks odour and insects below the floor
Strainer Top Options: Select models ship with a removable honeycomb or punched strainer disc above the valve — hair and debris sit on top where they lift off with the core, instead of jamming the flap. The disc is moulded "THIS SIDE UP" for untrained installers, an export-retail detail that cuts returns.

Why Importers Stock Cores: A drain sale happens once per bathroom; a core sale happens every few years per drain, and in retail at single-unit prices. Hardware distributors typically order cores in mixed 40/50/60 cartons alongside washing machine drain connectors and hair strainers — three small parts, one container, continuous reorder. For whole-project specifications, our mechanical odor traps and waterless trap inserts are the built-in equivalents designed into new linear and point drain bodies.
OEM/ODM & Packing: Colour (black/white/grey bodies), strainer-top style, bellows collar size and branded blister cards are all adjustable at export quantities. Individual OPP bag + barcode blister is the standard retail configuration; bulk sleeve packing serves wholesale programs. Send your target bore sizes and finish and we will quote the matrix that fits your market's installed base.

Installation Guide

Drop-In Fit (no tools, under 1 minute):
Step 1 — Measure the bore: Inner diameter of the drain opening where the old core or grate sat: 40, 50, 60 or 100mm. If between sizes, choose the smaller core and rely on the sealing collar.
Step 2 — Remove and clean: Lift out the old core or any debris. Rinse the bore; a hair-clogged seat is the most common cause of a new core leaking odour.
Step 3 — Seat the core: Drop the new core in with the strainer top facing up (models with a marking read "THIS SIDE UP"). Press gently until the rubber collar seals against the bore wall all around.
Step 4 — Verify the flap: Pour a bucket of water. The flap or float should open under flow and close fully when pouring stops — look for the closed gap and smell test at the drain.
Step 5 — Maintenance: Lift the core monthly, rinse the flap and seat, clear the strainer top. Replace the core whenever the seal no longer closes fully — in hard-water or greasy environments this cycle is shorter, which is exactly why cores sell as repeat retail items.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose the right core size for my floor drain?

Measure the inner diameter of the drain bore where the core sits — not the visible grate size on the floor. Our cores cover 40mm, 50mm, 60mm and 100mm bores, which account for the vast majority of installed drains worldwide. If the bore falls between sizes, choose the smaller core: the stepped rubber sealing collar flexes outward to grip the wall. Whether the drain has a tailpiece below it does not affect the choice — the core always seats in the drain body above.

Does the core fit drains with and without a tailpiece?

Yes — this is the key point of the fitment chart: the core selection depends only on bore diameter. A tailpiece is the pipe stub beneath the drain body that pushes into the waste pipe; it sits below where the core seats, so a 40mm core fits a 40mm-bore drain in both tailpiece and non-tailpiece installations. The same matrix of flap, ABS and magnetic cores applies to both drain types.

Which is better: gravity flap, ABS valve or magnetic core?

Each suits a channel position. Stainless gravity flap is the cheapest and most tolerant of dirty water — the wholesale workhorse. ABS self-sealing has the softest, quietest close and a flexible collar that seals best in uneven old bores — the retrofit favourite. Magnetic-float cores have the strongest positive closure at low water volume and read as premium on retail cards. A balanced importer assortment is roughly 40% stainless flap, 40% ABS, 20% magnetic.

Will a self-sealing core stop drain flies and cockroaches too?

Yes. The flap closes airtight against its silicone seat when flow stops, which blocks the same gas path insects use: drain flies emerge through the water column, and cockroaches climb waste stacks and exit through open drain bores. With the bore sealed by a fitted core and the strainer top keeping hair off the seat, the drain stops being an entry route. For severe infestation cases, also check gaps around the drain body perimeter, which the core does not cover.

How long does a deodorizer core last, and can it be replaced?

Service life depends heavily on water chemistry and usage: hard-water scale and greasy residues are the main wear factors for the sealing elements. Because the unit lifts out without tools, replacement is a tenant-level task: pull the old core, rinse the bore, drop in the new one. Many importers position cores as a permanent retail SKU precisely because the replacement cycle is short and predictable in their local market — we can discuss expected service intervals for your water conditions at RFQ stage.

Can I get these cores under my own brand?

Yes. Body colour (black/white/grey), strainer-top pattern, sealing-collar dimension and blister-card artwork are all adjustable at export quantities, with barcode assignment and mixed-size display cartons available. Send your market's dominant bore sizes and we will propose the SKU matrix and MOQ that fits your channel.
